Fun Science Facts-Week 4 (Sept 2025)
Earth History

🦈 Sharks existed before trees! 🌳

Sharks have swum our oceans for about 400 million years, while the first trees appeared ~350 million years ago—so sharks are older than forests!

Ocean Life

🐙 Octopuses have three hearts! ❤️❤️❤️

Two hearts pump blood to the gills, and one pumps to the rest of the body. Fun twist: the main heart pauses when they swim!

Human Body

🧪 Your stomach gets a new lining every 3–4 days!

If it didn’t, the strong acid that digests food would eat through your stomach. Your body acts like a builder—constantly rebuilding the walls to keep you safe!

Space Science

🌌 Space smells like burnt steak! 🥩

Astronauts say their spacesuits smell like seared steak after spacewalks. The “space smell” comes from high-energy atoms clinging to their suits!

Animal Science

🦒 A giraffe’s tongue is about 45–50 cm long! 👅

That’s nearly half a meter! Their dark purple tongues help them reach high leaves while protecting against sunburn during all-day snacking.

Physics

⚡ Lightning is hotter than the Sun! ☀️

A bolt of lightning can heat the air to 30,000°C, which is about five times hotter than the surface of the Sun! That’s why it glows so brightly.

Fruits Facts

🍌 Bananas are slightly radioactive!

That’s because they contain potassium-40, a naturally radioactive isotope. But don’t worry—you’d have to eat millions of bananas at once to get any harm. So, bananas are totally safe and super yummy!

Chemistry

🍫 Chocolate was once used as money! 💰

The ancient Maya and Aztec civilizations valued cacao beans so highly that they used them as currency for trade and even to pay taxes!

Astronomy

🌕 The Moon is moving away from Earth! 🌍

Every year, the Moon drifts about 3.8 centimeters farther from Earth. Someday in the distant future, a total solar eclipse won’t be possible anymore!

Biology

🦎 Some lizards can squirt blood from their eyes! 👀

Horned lizards defend themselves by shooting blood up to 1.5 meters from tiny vessels near their eyes. It confuses predators and even tastes bad to them!

Space Science

🪐 Saturn could float in water! 💧

Saturn is the lightest planet in our solar system. If you could find a giant bathtub big enough, it would actually float because it’s mostly made of gas!
